Troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, conducted a decisive fighting patrol in Bamamu Village, Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State, on January 4, 2025. During the operation, they encountered terrorists in the area, neutralizing notorious terrorist kingpin Sani Rusu.
On the same day, leveraging credible intelligence, troops conducted an ambush at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi LGA, neutralizing additional terrorists and leaving others fatally injured. Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, a G3 rifle, eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, four rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, three magazines, and three motorcycles.
In a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Hadarin Daji, the Air Component carried out targeted airstrikes on December 30, 2024, in Fakai and Kware, Shinkafi LGA. The strikes targeted terrorists led by Bello Turji, disrupting a meeting in the area. Follow-up operations on January 2, 2025, included airstrikes on Maikaman Rini in Sububu Forest, targeting the camp of terrorist kingpin Ibrahim Chumo. On January 5, 2025, further offensive operations were launched against Bello Turji's camp in the Chida area of Shinkafi. Surveillance confirmed heavy casualties among the terrorists, with significant destruction to their hideouts.
