Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has emphasized the critical role of the media in promoting peace, security, and development, which has prompted his administration’s prioritization of the communication sector.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor at the 2025 New Year Breakfast hosted by the Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, in Yola on Monday, the Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating jobs for youths, advancing agriculture, and strengthening security across the state.
Governor Fintiri commended journalists for their unbiased and professional reporting, which he said has effectively highlighted his administration’s dedication to good governance on both local and international platforms.
Chief Press Secretary Humwashi Wonosikou also expressed gratitude to the media, stating:
“In an era where misinformation spreads rapidly, your unwavering commitment to fact-based reporting and journalistic integrity is crucial. You have amplified the voices of citizens, spotlighted vital issues, and promoted transparency and accountability in governance. Your contributions are immeasurable, and we deeply value our partnership with you.”
The journalists in attendance were also recognized for their role in fostering understanding and engagement within communities. Their efforts in covering topics such as education, healthcare, economic development, and social justice were praised for creating awareness and empathy among citizens.
During the event, representatives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), including Alhassan Yahya, represented by Northeast Vice Chairman Comrade Zare Baba, NUJ Adamawa State Chairman Ishaka Dedan, and Correspondents Chapel Chairman Padio Phineas, lauded the state government for providing an enabling environment for journalism to thrive.
The event underscored the shared commitment of the state government and the media to building a peaceful, secure, and progressive Adamawa State.
