The Niger State Governor has reportedly suspended some of his close aides with immediate effect.
Reliable sources revealed that the governor issued the directive upon returning from an official engagement with investors and a birthday celebration, during a State Council meeting at the Government House in Minna.
According to the sources, the suspended officials include the Governor's Chief of Staff, Abdullahi Usman Kpatamangi, Director General of Protocol, Abdullahi Yerima, and the Chief Detail, who was sacked for alleged incompetence.
Interestingly, the suspended officials were part of the governor’s delegation during his recent trips to Lagos and Abuja. Despite their participation in these official engagements, they received a one-month suspension without any stated reasons.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has been directed to issue suspension letters to the affected officials without delay. Insiders suggested that the officials may not have been meeting the governor’s expectations, leading to the disciplinary action.
As of the time of filing this report, the state government had yet to release an official statement regarding the suspensions. Efforts to obtain comments from relevant government officials were unsuccessful, as they declined to respond to calls.
