The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Funtua Local Government has officially inaugurated its candidates for the upcoming local government council elections. The candidates, vying for the positions of chairman, vice chairman, and councilors, were inaugurated during a ceremony held in Maska Town, Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State.
During the screening process, APC politicians and supporters gathered in Maska Town to witness the inauguration event.
In his remarks, the Katsina State Commissioner for Health, Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua, emphasized the historical significance of Maska as the origin of Funtua. He urged residents to support and cooperate with the APC candidates for success in the forthcoming local government election scheduled for February 15, 2025.
Hon. Musa Adamu highlighted the achievements of the APC-led administration, noting that the people of Katsina State overwhelmingly elected the party in the 2023 general elections. He stated that this decision had yielded positive results, as Governor Malam Umar Dikko Radda, PhD, has executed numerous developmental projects benefiting the people. According to him, the government under Governor Radda’s leadership has recruited indigenous personnel for various ministries and sponsored students—particularly health professionals—for studies abroad.
Speaking at the event, APC chieftain Hon. Shamsu Suleman criticized the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the area for its accusations against Governor Radda's administration, describing the criticisms as baseless.
Similarly, the member representing Funtua/Dandume Federal Constituency, Hon. Abubakar Gardi, stated that he had undertaken numerous developmental projects for the benefit of his constituents.
In the same vein, the Katsina State House of Assembly member representing Funtua Metropolis, Hon. Abubakar Total, described the inauguration of the candidates as a welcome development, emphasizing that the selection was based on merit.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Katsina State Chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue, Alh. Aminu Isiyaku, commended Governor Dikko Radda for his efforts in executing developmental projects in Funtua Local Government. He also urged voters in the area to support the APC in the forthcoming local government elections.
Speaking at the event, Senator Muntari Dan Dutse, representing Funtua Zone, noted that many opposition party members had recognized the APC-led administration’s achievements, prompting several party leaders to defect to the APC.
On behalf of all the inaugurated candidates, Hon. Abdu Goya expressed gratitude to the Katsina State government, APC party leaders, stakeholders, and legislators at both state and national levels for ensuring the successful conduct of the inauguration ceremony.
