Governor Bago made this statement during a dinner and gala night organized for members of the Presidential Livestock Reforms Committee at the Hauwa Wali Multipurpose Hall, Government House, Minna.
He emphasized that Niger State will continue to spearhead agricultural transformation, leveraging its vast landmass, abundant water bodies, and significant livestock population.
Highlighting the state's comprehensive approach to agriculture, he noted that the government understands the critical interdependence between crop production, animal husbandry, and fisheries. He stressed that a well-managed agricultural ecosystem has the potential to generate substantial wealth for both the state and the country.
The governor further disclosed that the state is developing a 3,000-hectare livestock production facility, which will house feedlots and barns. He revealed that production will commence at Tagwai Dam, while Shiroro Dam will provide one billion liters of water daily to support irrigation for the Airport City project.
