NUMW Swears In New Shiroro Branch Leaders

The Nigeria Union of Mines Workers (NUMW), Niger State Chapter, has sworn in the newly elected leaders of the Shiroro local government branch. 

The ceremony took place at Senator Sani 313 hall in Kuta on Saturday, with senior security officers and state union leaders in attendance.

According to Comrade Musa Adamu Nasko, State Chairman of the Union and Treasurer of the national union, the election was held after the completion of the previous caretakers tenure of seven months . Nasko urged the new leaders to be law-abiding and manage mining activities in accordance with federal and state laws.

The NUMW is a federal government organization under the Ministry of Mines and Employment, affiliated with the National Labour union (Nigeria Labour Congress). The new leaders are expected to work closely with security egency to protect members' rights and ensure compliance with the Mining Act.

Comrade Abdul'Azeez Mohammed She, the newly elected chairman, pledged to work cooperatively with his team and encouraged members to be loyal and pay their dues. He also emphasized the importance of obeying laws and government orders.

The election and swearing-in ceremony were peaceful, despite the area's history of terrorism. Women in the mining industry were also represented in the election. The new leaders' term of office is three years.
