The agricultural revolution spearheaded by Farmer-Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago is set to achieve another milestone with the proposed Kwaipi Pumping Station and Water Dam—an initiative designed to provide a sustainable solution for irrigation and freshwater supply.
The project, to be located in Kwaipi Community, Bosso Local Government Area, is expected to be solar-powered and strategically designed to support large-scale irrigation farming throughout the year. This aligns with the governor’s vision of making Niger State a major contributor to national food security.
The proposal outlines a scheme covering 10,000 hectares of farmland, ensuring a cost-effective and continuous water supply. This initiative aims to boost agricultural productivity, drive local economic growth, and supply fresh water to the Bosso Dam through a dedicated water channel.
To guarantee the project's success, comprehensive topographical, geographical, and hydrological assessments will be conducted, including an evaluation of the proposed farmland to determine suitable crop varieties.
The Kwaipi Pumping Station and Water Dam is one of many agricultural initiatives championed by Governor Umaru Bago as he continues his mission to leverage agriculture for the overall growth and development of Niger State and Nigeria at large.
