The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from recent comments made by its Welfare Secretary, Hon. Bashir Idris Ataka, regarding the Ramadan welfare package distributed by the party’s leader and Minister of State for Defence, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
In a statement signed by the APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, the party clarified that Ataka’s remarks were his personal opinion and did not reflect the official stance of the APC in Zamfara.
“The party wishes to state categorically that the writer spoke on his individual behalf and not the position of the party,” the statement read.
The APC in Zamfara reaffirmed its appreciation for Matawalle’s welfare contributions, particularly during Ramadan and Sallah, emphasizing that such gestures have consistently been distributed fairly, regardless of political affiliations.
The state party chairman, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani, urged party members, especially those in leadership positions, to follow proper channels when airing grievances rather than making public statements on sensitive issues.
“The party will, however, investigate the matter and take all necessary steps to prevent the occurrence of such attitudes,” the statement added.
The APC also appealed to its supporters to remain patient and appreciative of the continuous support from party leaders, which aims to improve the welfare of members at all levels.
