The Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Governor on International Donor Agencies, Dr. Usman Buhari Ali Gwandu, has disbursed N15 million in support of Ramadan feeding, education, and community development initiatives in his Illelah community, Gwandu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Under his "Gamjin Gwandu Na Kauran Gwandu" initiative, Dr. Ali Gwandu distributed 600 cartons of pasta (spaghetti) and bags of millet to facilitate the preparation of Iftar pap (kunu) for fasting Muslims. The food items were shared among community members, relatives, and well-wishers as a gesture of solidarity and compassion during the holy month of Ramadan.

“These were distributed to community members, relatives, friends, and other well-wishers as a symbol of togetherness during this Ramadan period and beyond,” he stated.

In addition to the Ramadan food aid, Dr. Ali Gwandu sponsored 100 indigent students across the 10 wards of Gwandu Local Government Area by purchasing JAMB forms and covering registration logistics to support their higher education aspirations.

Recognizing the need for stable electricity in his community, he also procured transformer cables, installation costs, and protective materials worth N3 million to replace stolen cables for a transformer in Illelah community, Marafa Ward. The transformer supplies electricity to several communities, including Illelah, Baraku, Masallaci Babba (Central Mosque), and Dutsin Government Day School.

Dr. Ali Gwandu, who established the first community radio station in Gwandu, HASKE COMMUNITY FM RADIO 89.1, also sponsored the daily call to prayer for Iftar and the airing of Ramadan tafsir (Islamic sermons) conducted at Gwandu Central Mosque.

“This gesture is dedicated to my parents, Alhaji Muhammad Buhari Ali (Majidadin Garin Gwandu) and my late mother, Hajiya Halimatu (Yar’Dubu) Muhammadu Shayau, who passed away on March 7, 2013, in Birnin Kebbi,” he said.

Dr. Ali Gwandu used the occasion to urge youth to refrain from vandalizing public infrastructure, warning that such acts constitute a serious crime and hinder community progress.

"Besides the risks involved, such acts create public nuisance, set communities backward, and are serious offenses," he cautioned.

He also called for prayers and support for the administration of Governor Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), stating that the government has exceeded expectations within two years. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the administration’s developmental agenda and strengthening local governance.

Furthermore, he emphasized the need for community policing, urging residents to collaborate with security agencies by providing credible intelligence to combat rising security threats from miscreants, informants, and extremist sects attempting to destabilize the peace in Kebbi State.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the District Head of Dalijan, Alhaji Almustapha Abdullahi, expressed gratitude for the philanthropic efforts of Dr. Ali Gwandu.

"We pray to Allah for blessings and protection for this noble philanthropist," he stated.

He further encouraged other well-meaning individuals to emulate Dr. Ali Gwandu’s generosity, describing him as “a God-sent liberator” committed to uplifting his people.
