By Nasir Abubakar

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has accepted the resignation of Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd.), the pioneer commissioner for the newly established Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services.

Idris, appointed and sworn into office in August 2024, stepped down from his position in what marks the second high-profile resignation in the state government this year. His departure follows that of Mohammed Diggol, the Project Monitoring and Evaluation commissioner, who resigned on January 5.

In an official statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for Idris' contributions, particularly in shaping the foundational structure of the ministry.

“We thank Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd) for his unwavering commitment and contributions to the development of Kano State, both during his military career and in his role within the administration. We wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement,” the governor stated.

Despite his brief tenure, Idris is credited with laying the groundwork for the ministry’s operational framework. Governor Yusuf affirmed that his administration remains committed to strengthening internal security and expressed confidence that Idris’ successor will build on these efforts.
