Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has reviewed the operational restrictions on commercial tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, in Yola North, Yola South, and Girei Local Government Areas to facilitate the smooth observance of Ramadan activities.
Effective immediately, the restriction, which previously ran from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, has been adjusted to 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM daily throughout the Ramadan fasting period. The adjustment is aimed at enabling Muslim faithful to attend Tafsir sessions without hindrance.
It may be recalled that the Adamawa State Government, through the Restriction of Movement of Tricycles/Motorcycles Executive Order No. 1 of 2021, imposed the initial restriction in February 2021 as part of measures to enhance security in the state. However, in recognition of the significance of Ramadan, the Government has decided to ease the restriction temporarily.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, disclosed this in a press statement issued in Yola on Monday. He added that Governor Fintiri has also directed security agencies to intensify surveillance and enhance security operations across the state, particularly in Yola North, Yola South, and Girei, by deploying additional personnel to safeguard lives and property.
The Governor further warned that anyone found violating the law will face the full wrath of the law.
He also urged residents to remain law-abiding and avoid actions capable of undermining the peace and stability of the state. Fintiri emphasized the importance of harmony and cooperation to sustain the progress made in fostering peaceful coexistence.
