The wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajiya Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas, PhD (Tauraruwan Iyan Zazzau), has flagged off the distribution of food items and cash palliatives to women across all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State.
The gesture aims to address the basic needs of women, particularly during this year’s Ramadan fasting period.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the Emir of Zazzau’s palace, Hajiya Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas explained that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on improving the living standards of women through empowerment and promoting self-reliance.
She encouraged women to actively engage in meaningful ventures to become integral contributors to national development and to play vital roles in the affairs of their communities.
Hajiya Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas also assured the people of Kaduna State of her husband’s—Mr. Speaker’s—commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to their doorsteps through transformative initiatives. She urged the people to continue supporting the present administration to benefit further from its empowerment programmes.
Over 4,000 women received a bag of rice and cash palliatives each through the Speaker’s wife’s foundation.
Beneficiaries from all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State expressed their gratitude for Hajiya Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas’ thoughtful gesture, especially at this crucial time of Ramadan. They described the initiative as the first of its kind and promised to continue praying for her and her husband’s success.
Additionally, she donated 40 solar-powered streetlights to the Zaria federal constituency.
