Zazzau Emirate Distances Itself from Planned Natasha Protest

Zazzau emirate council has disassociated itself and the Emir of Zazzau Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli from a letter in circulation proposing protest on the recent suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti.

In statement signed by Yusuf Abubakar Hayat, Secretary to the emirate issued to Newsmen by Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai in Zaria, described the letter as "Malicious Correspondence".

The letter obtained by our Correspondant dated March 12, 2025 was signed by Abdul Danbature, Speaker and Akaahan Terdoo Jacinta, Clark of the Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership (AYAGL).

The letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police contained the the names of Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli as Grand patron (North West), Pozoh Johson Jauro Magaji, the second, the Ujah Anagula Jos, (North Central) and Muammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, Lamido of Adamawa (North East).

According to the statement "the letter falsely claims that His Highness the Emir of Zazzau, as a Grand Patron of the "AREWA YOUTH ASSEMBLY FOR GOOD LEADERSHIP (AYAGL)," is involved in a protest regarding the Reversal of the Suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti.

"In the light of recent events, the Zazzau Emirate feels compelled to address a Letter circulating on various Social Media Platforms." It read in part.

The statement categorically states that the Emir of Zazzau is a revered traditional leader and does not participate in political affairs. 

It added that the emirate does not endorse or align itself with the activities or intentions of any political organization or movement.

The emirate however described the  letter in question as malicious with  attempt to create unnecessary anxiety among the public and instigate discord within the community and the nation. 

It further stressed that the Zazzau emirate reserves the right to take appropriate actions against individuals or groups attempting to involve the Emirate in political matters and misrepresent its position.

The statement therefore implored members of the public to treat the letter with skepticism and refrain from spreading misinformation.

"Our commitment to maintaining peace and fostering unity within our communities remains steadfast". It concluded.
