As part of ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in grassroots administration, the Kebbi State Local Government Service Commission has organized a training workshop for its personnel.
Speaking at the event, held at the College of Health, Nursing and Midwifery, Birnin Kebbi, the Commission’s Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Ashiru-Garba, urged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to improve their performance in their respective roles.
The training, designed specifically for Directors of Local Government, was themed “Strategic Administration and Management of Personnel for Sustainable Development at the Local Government Level.”
Ashiru-Garba explained that the workshop aimed to equip participants with both theoretical and practical knowledge of modern administrative and management techniques, with a particular focus on effective planning and coordination within local government departments.
“This is to facilitate greater productivity and ensure the achievement of departmental objectives through efficient resource utilization and effective service delivery,” he stated.
He added that the Commission deemed it essential to support the Kebbi State Government by organizing this capacity-building initiative to strengthen strategic administration and personnel management for sustainable grassroots development.
“When this objective is achieved, it will foster an enabling environment where every public servant contributes meaningfully to service delivery, ultimately improving the lives of our people,” he said.
The Chairman further noted that the training would help translate government policies and programmes into tangible benefits for citizens, aligning with the vision of His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, whose administration is committed to a people-oriented approach to governance.
Ashiru-Garba cautioned that, given the significant resources being invested in training and retraining local government personnel, the Commission would no longer tolerate absenteeism or dereliction of duty.
To ensure the objectives of the workshop are met, he said the Commission would carry out periodic monitoring and supervision to verify that the acquired knowledge is being effectively applied.
He concluded by expressing gratitude to Governor Nasir Idris for entrusting the Commission with the autonomy to execute its mandate without interference.
