The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Malam Bologi Ibrahim, has condemned what he described as a concerted effort by social media speculators to undermine the progress of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s administration in implementing the New Niger Agenda.
In a statement issued on Monday, Ibrahim highlighted what he called a “sinister attempt” by critics to discredit the governor’s tireless efforts in transforming the state. He pointed out that despite the governor’s notable achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, and security, some social media speculators have unjustly criticized his administration, claiming that the rapid development in the state is “half-baked” and that more should be done, even though Governor Bago has only been in office for less than two years.
“These criticisms clearly stem from individuals who are either malicious or deliberately blind to the remarkable progress being made in Niger State,” Ibrahim stated.
He further emphasized that Niger State is undergoing a significant socio-economic transformation, with the Bago-led administration prioritizing food security, infrastructure development, healthcare, and education. According to Ibrahim, these are essential areas for sustainable growth, and the administration has made these its focal points.
Ibrahim asserted that the government’s development strategy is clearly outlined in a well-thought-out and meticulously executed Development Action Plan. “It is unfair and unrealistic to suggest that this administration lacks a clear policy direction,” he said, defending the New Niger Agenda as a carefully designed and pragmatic initiative. He added that with focus and foresight, Governor Bago is successfully bringing this vision to life.
While acknowledging that no government can resolve all of a state’s issues overnight, Ibrahim pointed out that the Bago administration is already producing tangible results that can be seen by all except for the “myopic” social media critics. “The government is making steady progress and achieving results that are visible to everyone except those determined to ignore the facts,” he said.
The Chief Press Secretary also noted that some of the critics appear to be seeking attention or acting out of mischief, ignoring the significant agricultural advancements in the state, particularly through the Niger Foods company, which has been widely acknowledged for its positive impact.
Ibrahim further reiterated that the Bago administration has taken a clear and decisive approach to tackling insecurity and ensuring the safety and well-being of the people. He stressed that these efforts, along with the administration’s commitment to economic revival, are being implemented with strategic precision.
“The continued campaign of calumny, blackmail, and mischief by these social media speculators and their sponsors will not deter the government,” he said. “Nigerlites are patient, supportive, and optimistic about the future, as they witness the positive changes being brought about by the Farmer Governor.”
Ibrahim concluded by saying that efforts to ignite social media storms, protests, or public outrage against the government will continue to fail. “The Bago administration has proven to be uniquely different, and the people are fervently praying for its success as the Farmer Governor continues to lead the state into the next level of progress and development.”
