Saudi Arabian authorities have officially announced the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, marking the beginning of the Islamic month of pilgrimage and setting the date for Eid-el-Kabir (Eid al-Adha) on Friday, June 6, 2025.

According to Arab News, the Kingdom’s Supreme Court announced the announcement on Tuesday. With the new moon sighted, the annual Hajj pilgrimage is scheduled to commence on June 4, while the sacred Day of Arafah will fall on June 5.

The Supreme Court had earlier called on Muslims across the Kingdom to observe the skies for the crescent on Dhu Al-Qa’dah 29 and report any sightings to the nearest court to aid in determining the start of Dhul Hijjah.

Muslims around the world who are not participating in the pilgrimage this year will observe Eid-el-Kabir on the same date, June 6.

Saudi authorities have also declared a weeklong public holiday for workers in both the public and private sectors to celebrate the holy festival.
