Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus La’ori, member of the House of Representatives representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency, has commissioned a newly constructed examination hall in Opalo Ward, Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Thursday, marks the fulfillment of a campaign promise La’ori made to the people during his re-election bid in 2023.
Speaking at the event, La’ori described the project as a response to the community's direct request during the last general elections. “There is no development more important than improving the education sector and providing a conducive learning environment for our children. Quality education is our hope for a better future,” he said.
Recounting his campaign visit to Opalo, La’ori added, “I was here during the campaign period. You requested this exam hall, and today we are here to commission it. This is not something I decided on my own—it came from you, the people. This facility belongs to the entire community and neighboring areas, and I urge you all to make the best use of it for the benefit of our children.”
He further expressed gratitude for the community’s support, saying, “Thank you for the trust you have placed in us and in our amiable governor. We are committed to delivering on our promises and will not let you down.”
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Bauna Nyandasa, the member representing Lamurde in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, affirmed that La’ori had indeed fulfilled his promise. “As a witness to this commitment, I urge the people of Opalo to take full responsibility for maintaining this facility.”
The Adamawa State Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, Titus Solomon, also praised the project, calling it “a day of joy” and a clear example of meaningful development initiated by Hon. La’ori.
Chairmen of the Numan, Demsa, and Lamurde LGAs jointly lauded La’ori’s efforts, describing him as a role model and the only leader in whom they have full confidence.
An elder from Opalo, Baba Kevil, emphasized that most government presence in their area was made possible through La’ori’s intervention. “We have not seen any other government projects here besides those brought by La’ori. We will take care of this hall just as we have protected the others he provided.”
As part of the ceremony, the community honored La’ori with cultural performances by the Bachama people. In recognition of local contributions to education, La’ori also named the building after Oliver Vitu, a respected figure in the area’s educational development.
