As the rainy season sets in, the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Dr. Umar Faruk Bahago, has called on farmers and herders within his emirate to embrace peaceful coexistence and live harmoniously. He made the appeal during a peace-building meeting organized to address the recurring conflicts between the two groups during the farming season.
Speaking at the event, the Niger State Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, Alhaji Umar A. Rebe (Junwuron Minna), commended the Minna Emirate for its proactive approach in convening the meeting. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting peace and strengthening cooperation between farmers and herders.
Also present at the gathering was the Fulani representative in Minna, Alhaji Hassan Usman Shiroro (Wakilin Fulanin Minna), who also serves as the Coordinator of the Bago Ruga Ruga initiative. He expressed gratitude to the Emirate Council for prioritizing dialogue and peaceful engagement. He further reaffirmed the commitment of the Fulani community to lasting peace and mutual understanding.
