The Children Day celebration in Damaturu yesterday brought together government representatives, development partners, educators, and children across Yobe state.
The event was organized by the Yobe State Ministry of Youth, Sports, Social & Community Development in collaboration with the Child Protection Area of Responsibility (CP AoR) and other child protection stakeholders.
The Lake Chad Peace & Development Initiative (LCPD) with support from ActionAid Nigeria under the Local Rights Programme (LRP), joined the rest of the nation to mark this year’s National Children’s Day Celebration,
Lake Chad Peace & Development Initiative (LCPD) also celebrated the 2025 National Children’s Day with fifty (50) Children from the local rights communities.
The event featured cultural performances, a quiz competition, a panel talk on child protection, and a keynote address highlighting progress made in implementing the Yobe State Child Protection Law.
A statement by the ActionAid Nigeria said that, LCPD, a committed child protection actor and active member of the CP AoR, mobilized 50 children from its LRP-supported communities to participate in this memorable occasion.
"The children had the opportunity to interact with peers, display talents, and engage in enriching activities that built confidence and self-expression. To crown the day, the *children were presented with prizes and gifts* in recognition of their participation and enthusiasm".
According to the statement, the event served as a powerful platform to amplify children’s voices and emphasized the urgent need to prioritize child protection services across the state.
It explained that LCPD remained committed to promoting safe spaces, inclusive opportunities, and brighter futures for every child.
