The Niger State Government has approved the sum of N1.317 billion for the production of 23,400 chairs for public schools across the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hajiya Binta Mamman, disclosed this during a post-State Executive Council briefing at the Government House in Minna.

She explained that the initiative, undertaken by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, aims to enhance the learning and teaching environment in public schools. The chairs, each with an attached locker, will be distributed to schools statewide.

In a related development, the Commissioner announced a cabinet reshuffle involving Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, whose portfolio has been changed from Special Adviser on Public-Private Partnership to Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

Hajiya Mamman noted that Mr. Vatsa, a former Commissioner for Information, is expected to bring his vast experience to bear in his new role.

She reaffirmed Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s commitment to good governance, citizen engagement, and improved service delivery across all sectors.

The Commissioner also urged the public to beware of misinformation and fake narratives, emphasizing that the Ministry of Information and Strategy remains open for clarifications and will continue to engage citizens through multiple channels.
