A political advocacy group, the Concerned Bauchi Citizens Alliance, has declared full support for the proposed coalition being spearheaded by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar (GCON), Wazirin Adamawa, and other prominent Nigerian politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released to journalists in Bauchi on Tuesday, the group’s Director of Media and Publicity, Adamu Abdullahi Hassan (AA Hassan), said the alliance is actively engaging with professional bodies, civil society organisations (CSOs), market women, youth volunteers, opinion leaders, and grassroots mobilisers to ensure widespread support for the coalition.
Hassan described the initiative as a necessary intervention to salvage the country from what he termed "imminent collapse" under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.
“We are fully aligned with the vision of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other patriotic Nigerians—Mr. Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Senator David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, among others—who are committed to building a united front capable of rescuing Nigeria,” he said.
He noted that the group’s support for the coalition followed a thorough assessment of the country’s deteriorating socio-political and economic landscape since 2015.
“It has become evident that things have moved from bad to worse in the past 10 years under the APC administration. Our country deserves better leadership, visionary policies, and strong institutions—not empty rhetoric,” the statement added.
The group called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the judiciary, police, and other security agencies to remain neutral before, during, and after the 2027 elections, urging them not to be swayed by partisan interests.
In addition, the alliance appealed to the international community to closely monitor Nigeria’s electoral process to ensure transparency and credibility.
According to Hassan, the alliance has already begun grassroots mobilization efforts across Bauchi State and beyond, holding interactive sessions with political stakeholders, traditional leaders, and the general public.
He emphasized the importance of voter participation, urging all eligible Nigerians to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the elections.
“Voting is a fundamental right, and no one should be disenfranchised. We are determined to mobilize massive voter turnout and ensure victory for the coalition at all levels—from state assemblies to the presidency—through teamwork and by the grace of God,” the statement concluded.
