Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has received a delegation from the European Union as part of ongoing discussions to foster partnership in the areas of education, agriculture, peace, and security.

Governor Bago, who was represented by his deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, received the EU delegation at the Government House in Minna, where further dialogue was held on collaborative initiatives between the state and the European Union.

Speaking at the meeting, the deputy governor noted that Niger State's growing population and the need to strengthen public institutions made partnerships with international and corporate organizations essential. He emphasized the importance the current administration places on education, peace, and security, stressing that the government remains committed to improving access to quality education in a safe and secure environment.

"The government has made significant efforts in these key areas, and we are not relenting in our pursuit to ensure that every citizen benefits from quality public services," he stated.

The Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union, Zissimos Vergos, said the visit was aimed at deepening discussions around sustainable partnership with Niger State, particularly in education, agriculture, and security. He disclosed that the delegation would also visit state-owned universities to explore further opportunities for collaboration.

Vergos extended the condolences of the European Union to the government and people of Niger State over the recent flood disaster that affected Mokwa and surrounding communities, expressing solidarity with the victims and their families.

The meeting marks a continuation of the Bago administration's active engagement with international partners to drive development across critical sectors of the state.
