Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has praised the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force for their heroic efforts in repelling a deadly terrorist incursion in Bangi, Mariga Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago described the response of the security forces as “gallant and commendable,” lauding their bravery, selflessness, and patriotism during the intense operation.
According to the statement, the military engaged the terrorists in a fierce battle lasting over three hours, during which several of the attackers were neutralized, thereby averting what could have been a major tragedy.
“The security personnel demonstrated remarkable courage and patriotism in defending the people of Bangi. Their actions reflect the highest ideals of national service,” the governor stated.
Governor Bago also expressed deep appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for his prompt visit to the state following the foiled attack. He extended heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian military and to the families of personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
“They died as heroes, serving and protecting the Nigerian people. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and their deaths will not be in vain,” Bago said.
The governor prayed for the repose of the souls of the fallen soldiers and wished the injured personnel a swift and full recovery.
He urged all security operatives to remain resolute and courageous in the fight against terrorism, assuring them of the continued support of his administration.
“We will not relent in providing all necessary support to security agencies to bring an end to the nefarious activities of terrorists in Niger State,” he affirmed.
The Bangi attack is the latest in a series of terrorist threats in the region, but the swift military response has been widely hailed as a major success in the ongoing fight against insurgency.
