The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has granted official approval for the burial of Nigerian elder statesman, renowned businessman, and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who passed away in the early hours of Saturday at the age of 94.

An official communication from the Emirate of the Madinah Region, signed by Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, confirmed that all necessary investigations had been completed and that there were no legal or administrative obstacles to transferring and burying the late statesman in Jubail Cemetery, Madinah.

The request for the burial was submitted by Haroun bin Malik bin Abdulhaqq Bakhsh, acting on behalf of the deceased's family. Medical records and official documents from the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where Alhaji Dantata died, were thoroughly reviewed and verified by the Saudi authorities.

Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata was widely respected across Nigeria and beyond for his monumental contributions to commerce, community development, and philanthropy. He was a towering figure in Nigeria’s post-independence economic landscape, playing a pivotal role in shaping the country’s private sector through his expansive business ventures.

Throughout his lifetime, Dantata was also known for his unwavering commitment to Islamic values and humanitarian causes. His choice to be buried in Madinah, one of Islam’s two holiest cities, aligns with his deeply held faith and spiritual devotion.

The approval by the Saudi authorities underscores the Kingdom's continued support for Muslims worldwide, especially in facilitating final religious rites in the holy lands.

Family members, associates, and well-wishers from Nigeria and across the globe have begun paying tributes to the late patriarch, describing him as a humble leader whose legacy will endure for generations.
