The Niger State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) held an extended State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the party's State Secretariat in Minna. The meeting was convened by the State Chairman, Alhaji Musa Hassan, and attended by key stakeholders, including all 25 local government party chairmen and four executive members from each local government area.

The gathering also extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed National Executive Committee of the party under the leadership of Senator David Mark. Attendees expressed confidence that Senator Mark's wealth of experience would steer the ADC toward greater achievements and electoral success at both state and national levels.

Speaking to journalists, Alhaji Musa Hassan stated that the meeting focused on internal consultations regarding the intake of members from coalition groups. He emphasized that many former aspirants who contested various positions in previous elections have remained loyal to the party.

“We are open to welcoming new groups into the party, but due process must be followed to ensure unity and sustainable progress. You don’t enter a house through the fence when there’s a door—proper channels must be respected,” said the chairman.

On the current state of the nation, Alhaji Musa remarked, “Today, every Nigerian is a living witness to the hardship across the country. There’s no need to elaborate further. If Nigerians are truly concerned, then this is the time to unite and show this government the way out.”

He cautioned against attempts by some groups to hijack the party’s identity and operations through unofficial means. “Our only recognized state secretariat is located in the Three Arm Zone, and all legitimate party activities take place there. Any meetings held elsewhere in the name of ADC are not recognized unless officially sanctioned by the party.”

He affirmed that ADC remains open to coalition members who are willing to follow the proper procedures. “When the time comes, and they come through the right doors, we will welcome them with open arms,” he added.

Engr. Umar Usman Maikunkele, ADC chairman in Bosso Local Government Area and a former state assembly candidate, praised the state leadership for resisting corrupt elements seeking to manipulate the party’s platform.

“It is time for Nigerians to rise and confront the government, especially in light of the worsening security, rising cost of living, and growing poverty. If we fail to act, we will continue to suffer under these conditions,” he said. “Our goal is national progress, unity, and peace—not selfish ambitions.”

He stressed that the party welcomes patriots ready to work toward rescuing the country but warned that opportunists would not find a home in ADC. “Politics is like football—everyone has a role to play to win. Let’s come together for the good of our nation.”

Hon. Abdurrahman Shehu Auna, a former House of Representatives candidate from Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency, said the momentum is building for a new political journey.

“This gathering is the largest I’ve seen since joining ADC. It shows that our party is seen as a viable alternative, with the right structure and purpose for national transformation,” he stated. “With God’s help, and building on our efforts from the last election, we will do even better moving forward.”

He highlighted the devastating effects of insecurity on rural communities like Magama/Rijau, once known for its thriving agricultural sector. “Our farmers have become refugees. We must unite and restore peace so that people can return to their homes and livelihoods.”

The meeting concluded with a unified resolve from all party leaders across the 25 local government areas of Niger State. The ADC also welcomed new members who recently decamped from other political parties to join the movement in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
