Professor Haruna Musa has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), marking a significant leadership transition at one of Nigeria’s foremost tertiary institutions.
A distinguished academic in the field of Chemistry, Prof. Musa brings a strong blend of scholarship, experience, and institutional loyalty to the role. He earned both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from BUK, before proceeding to the University of Bristol, UK, where he completed his Ph.D. in 2009.
Rising through the ranks, Professor Musa attained the rank of full Professor in 2019. Over the years, he has held several critical academic and administrative positions at BUK, including Head of the Chemistry Department, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), BUK Chapter, and Deputy Director at the Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainability Transitions (CREST).
With more than 20 peer-reviewed publications in the field of polymer chemistry, Prof. Musa is widely respected for his academic contributions and leadership within the university system.
