The Kebbi State Government has reiterated its commitment to the development of sports in the state, as part of ongoing efforts to promote youth engagement and community unity.

Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, made this known during the final match of the annual football competition sponsored by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Alhaji Ahmed Idris, held at Baura Quarters in Birnin Kebbi.

The final featured a keenly contested game between Ribadu Football Club and Dangidigi Football Club, with Ribadu FC emerging victorious with a 2–0 win.

Represented by Abubakar Ribadu Kalgo, Governor Idris commended the organisers for their initiative and praised the tournament for promoting peace and unity among youths across communities.

“This competition will go a long way in boosting the morale of our youth and strengthening the bond among different communities,” the governor said.

He lauded the players for their discipline, sportsmanship, and tactical display throughout the competition. As a gesture of support, he announced a donation of ₦1 million to the participating teams.

In his remarks, the sponsor of the tournament and CPS to the governor, Alhaji Ahmed Idris—represented by Abubakar Shehu—said the competition was organised to encourage youth participation in sports and foster talent development.

“This tournament aims to motivate the younger generation and provide a platform for discovering local talents,” he said, pledging to sustain the annual competition.

He also announced the donation of football jerseys and ₦50,000 to the participating teams.

Ribadu FC clinched first place, Dangidigi FC finished as runners-up, while the CPS Football Club secured third position in the tournament.
