The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, on Monday received the Zaria Area Commander of the Nigerian Police Force, ACP Abdurraham Idris, and his delegation on a courtesy visit to the institute’s headquarters in Zaria.

This was contained in a statement signed and released by Nuhu Basheer Masa, Personal Assistant on Media and Communication to the DG, NILEST.

According to the statement, the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the police command and NILEST, particularly in areas related to security and local footwear production.

During the meeting, ACP Idris stressed the importance of forging institutional partnerships to address security concerns and support economic activities in the region. He emphasized that “working together with NILEST will not only improve safety around the area but also contribute positively to the advancement of the local leather industry.”

In his remarks, Dr. Imam expressed appreciation for the dedication of the Nigerian Police to protecting lives and property. He reaffirmed NILEST’s commitment to collaborating with the Zaria Area Command in ways that would enhance security and promote the institute’s mission of technological development and innovation.

As a gesture of goodwill, Dr. Imam presented ACP Idris with a souvenir comprising specially branded shoes produced at NILEST, symbolizing the institute’s commitment to showcasing local craftsmanship and promoting made-in-Nigeria products.

The meeting ended with both parties expressing optimism about future collaborations that would foster peace, innovation, and economic growth in Zaria and its surrounding communities.
