Students of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, have received hands-on orientation on fire safety, emergency response, and rescue techniques during an excursion to the Zaria Area Command of the Federal Fire Service.

The session was led by the Area Commander, Assistant Controller of Fire (ACF) Aminu Ahmadu Kiyawa, who educated the students on various causes of fire outbreaks and preventive measures that can be adopted both at home and in the workplace.

According to a statement signed by ASF I. Umar D. Adamu, the Public Relations Officer of the Zaria Command, the students were taken through practical demonstrations on rescue operations, fire suppression techniques, and the safe evacuation of victims during fire emergencies.

Commander Kiyawa emphasised the importance of stakeholder collaboration in reducing the frequency and impact of fire outbreaks. He stated that sensitising students on fire safety equips them with the knowledge to respond effectively and even assist their communities in times of crisis.

He also expressed satisfaction with the visit, reaffirming the command’s commitment to promoting fire safety education in academic institutions across the region.

Some of the participating students expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing the experience as enlightening. They pledged to share the knowledge gained with fellow students who could not attend the visit.

The visiting students, drawn from the Departments of Mechanical, Civil, and Computer Engineering, were led by Mallam Aminu Usman.
