The Niger State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with military veterans in the collective effort to ensure a safer and more secure state.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, gave the assurance while receiving a delegation of retired military officers led by Adamu Dantani during a courtesy visit to his office in Minna.
Welcoming the delegation, Alhaji Usman commended the veterans for their patriotic service to the nation and their renewed dedication to supporting the security architecture of Niger State. He urged them to remain united and organized in order to achieve their noble objective of contributing meaningfully to the state’s security and development.
He emphasized that the administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago places a high premium on the safety and well-being of citizens and will continue to engage relevant stakeholders — including veterans — in complementing government efforts to maintain peace and security.
The SSG also encouraged the veterans to integrate with existing paramilitary groups and security outfits in the state, leveraging their experience, discipline, and training to enhance operational effectiveness at the community level.
Alhaji Usman assured the delegation of the government’s willingness to harness their expertise, adding that Governor Bago would be briefed on their visit and proposals with a view to exploring possible areas of collaboration for a more secure and prosperous Niger State.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Adamu Dantani, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, pledged the loyalty and commitment of the veterans to support the state government in its efforts to safeguard lives and property and contribute to ongoing development initiatives across the state.
