The Christian Youths in Politics, Bauchi State chapter, have declared support for Hon. Faruq Mustapha ahead of the 2027 governorship race, describing him as a leader with the qualities to unite the state and govern with fairness.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, the group's chairman, Comrade Jondes James, said Mustapha's leadership style is rooted in inclusiveness, empathy, and a willingness to listen, qualities he argued are vital in building a government that truly serves the people.
He noted that if given the opportunity, Hon. Faruq Mustapha would deliver justice to both Muslims and Christians, citing his track record of service and ability to bring people together to achieve common goals.
"As concerned citizens of Bauchi State and longtime advocates of good governance, we believe that Hon. Faruq Mustapha possesses the leadership skills, vision, integrity, and aura necessary to transform our state and improve the lives of its citizens," the chairman added.
The group emphasised that Mustapha has a clear understanding of Bauchi's challenges and has consistently proposed practical solutions to address them.
They highlighted his experience as a two-term member of the House of Representatives, a banker, Director-General of Governor Bala Mohammed's 2023 re-election campaign, and currently as Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties.
"His unique character, spirit of accommodation across religious divides, and unwavering commitment to good governance, transparency, and accountability make him a befitting candidate for 2027," the group added.
The youths further expressed confidence that Mustapha, if elected governor, would prioritise infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic growth, youth empowerment, and women's advancement, ensuring that Bauchi becomes a state where all citizens can thrive.
They also appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi to zone the 2027 governorship ticket to Bauchi North Senatorial District, urging them to consider Mustapha in the spirit of equity, fairness, and justice.
"We call on all well-meaning citizens of Bauchi to support Hon. Faruq Mustapha’s candidacy in 2027. Together, we can build a brighter future for our state and ensure that our government truly serves the people," the group concluded
