As Muslims around the world commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has urged the faithful to embody the noble virtues of the Prophet and continue to pray for national leaders and the society at large.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, to mark the Eid-el-Maulud celebration, Governor Bago described the occasion as a time not only for festivity but also for deep spiritual reflection.

He emphasised the importance of the Maulud as a reminder of spiritual renewal, unity, and acts of compassion and charity, calling on Muslims to uphold these values in their daily lives.

“The birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is a blessing to the entire Muslim Ummah. His life and teachings brought divine guidance through the Holy Qur’an, offering a path of peace, justice, and righteousness for all humanity,” the Governor said.

Governor Bago noted that the Prophet exemplified humility, kindness, sacrifice, integrity, and justice—qualities he said remain essential for building a peaceful and progressive society.

While congratulating Muslims on the occasion, he called on them to use the period to recommit to the true essence of Islam and foster peaceful coexistence with people of all backgrounds.

He also urged the faithful to intensify prayers for the President, as well as political, religious, and traditional leaders, seeking divine wisdom, guidance, and protection to enable them to serve the nation effectively.

“Let us also pray for lasting peace and prosperity in Niger State and Nigeria as a whole,” the Governor appealed.

Reaffirming his administration’s resolve, Governor Bago pledged continued commitment to the vision of a “New Niger,” anchored on inclusive socioeconomic transformation and sustainable development for all.
