As Muslims across the world mark Eid-el-Maulud, the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, has called on the Muslim Ummah to reflect deeply on the virtues of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and emulate his exemplary lifestyle.

In a statement issued on Friday, September 5, 2025, by his Personal Assistant on Media and Communication, Nuhu Basheer Masa, the DG described the Maulud celebration as a moment for spiritual reflection, national unity, and renewed commitment to righteous conduct.

"As we celebrate the birthday of our noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW), let us reflect on his virtues and teachings and follow his examples in our daily activities," Dr. Imam stated. "Let’s imbibe the lessons of compassion, trustworthiness, peace, and support for one another as preached by our noble Prophet Aminullah (SAW)."

Dr. Imam emphasised that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) remains a timeless role model whose life and message transcend religious and cultural boundaries, calling on all Nigerians—not just Muslims—to embrace the Prophet’s virtues of honesty, humility, and peaceful coexistence.

He also urged the faithful and the wider Nigerian populace to use the Maulud season to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity, especially in light of the country’s ongoing socio-economic challenges.

The Federal Government had earlier declared Friday, September 5, a public holiday to commemorate Eid-el-Maulud, which marks the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“Happy Eid-el-Maulud,” the statement concluded.
