The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah and the people of Niger State on the occasion of this year’s Eid Maulud, urging them to reflect on the virtues and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

In a statement signed by the Information Officer of the SSG's Office, Lawal Tanko, Alhaji Usman described the birth of the Holy Prophet as a divine mercy and enduring blessing to humanity, whose life continues to illuminate the path of righteousness, peace, and compassion.

He noted that the Maulud celebration is not merely symbolic, but a moment of deep spiritual reflection on the exemplary character and values embodied by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) — including honesty, tolerance, forgiveness, and dedication to the welfare of the less privileged.

“In the spirit of this holy occasion, let us rededicate ourselves to the virtues of love, brotherhood and peaceful coexistence,” the SSG stated. “Let us transcend our differences and work collectively towards building a more harmonious and progressive society, as exemplified by the Prophet (PBUH).”

Alhaji Usman called on the faithful to pray fervently for continued peace, unity, and prosperity in Niger State and Nigeria at large.

He also urged residents to support the programmes and policies of the administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, especially its efforts to harness the state's agricultural potential, strengthen infrastructure, improve security, and boost the socio-economic well-being of citizens.

While rejoicing with Muslims on the occasion, the SSG commended religious leaders, traditional rulers, and security agencies for their critical roles in promoting interfaith harmony and ensuring peace and stability across the state.
