The Hajiya Fatima Abbas Tajuddeen Foundation, in partnership with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has trained 400 youth and women on cosmetology, entrepreneurship, and digital marketing, as part of a two-day empowerment programme held on September 8th and 9th, 2025, at Barewa College, Zaria.
The initiative, spearheaded by Hajiya Fatima Abbas Tajuddeen, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, aims to support underprivileged groups, including persons with disabilities (PWDs), youth, and women in Zaria Federal Constituency, Kaduna State.
“This initiative is designed to equip them with essential entrepreneurial skills that will enable them to become self-sufficient,” said Hajiya Fatima in her address at the event.
At the end of the training, each participant received a cash grant of ₦50,000 to kick-start their businesses.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Abduljalal Danbaba, Director-General of the National Water Resources Institute, Kaduna, commended Hajiya Fatima for her commitment to youth and women empowerment.
“She is building on the foundation her husband has laid for the betterment of Zaria Federal Constituency and Nigeria at large,” he stated.
The event attracted several dignitaries, including the Minister of Youth, represented by Hon. Umar Yero; a representative of the First Lady of Kaduna State, Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani; Hon. Engr. Isah Haruna Ihamo, Member-elect for Zaria Kewaye Constituency; Hon. Lamir Umar, Special Adviser on Youth to the Speaker; and Hon. Aminu Kalila, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Zaria, among others.
The training is part of a broader vision by the foundation to foster sustainable livelihoods through capacity building and grassroots economic development.
