The Fulani Youths Say Bago Again Association has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the administration of Niger State Governor, Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago, while dismissing allegations that the group is involved in political lobbying or operating on behalf of the government.

Speaking shortly after a successful One-Day Workshop on Insurance for Herders and Agro Inputs, the State Director of Programs, Alhaji Shehu Usman Jita, expressed deep appreciation to all invited guests and government representatives who attended the event.

In his remarks, Alhaji Shehu thanked the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umma Kolo, officials from various ministries, and especially the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) for their partnership and technical support toward the success of the workshop.

“We sincerely thank our amiable and farmer-friendly Governor, His Excellency Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago; the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umma Kolo; all distinguished guests and participants; and particularly the officers of NAIC for their collaboration which made this program a great success,” he said.

Alhaji Shehu also commended Ambassador Dr Muhammad Mujahid Adamu Dikko Yobbi, the association’s chairman, describing him as “a consistent voice for growth, empowerment, and development among Fulani and other nomadic communities.”

He clarified that the association is not sponsored by any government official or politician, stressing that all their programs are self-funded through member contributions.

“We operate independently. No one is sponsoring our activities. Everything we do—from sensitisation programs and scholarships to voter registration support—is done from our pockets, purely for the progress of our people,” he explained.

According to him, the Fulani Youths Say Bago Again Association was established to complement the developmental efforts of the Niger State Government, particularly in promoting education, peacebuilding, and empowerment among pastoralists and rural communities.

Highlighting some of its achievements, Alhaji Shehu revealed that under the leadership of Ambassador Mujahid Adamu Dikko Yobbi, more than seventy Fulani pastoralist youths have received scholarships in health and education-related fields. He added that the recent workshop with NAIC brought together over one thousand herders and farmers to learn about the importance of agricultural insurance — the first of its kind in Niger State.

Addressing allegations that the group was lobbying for the reinstatement of some former political appointees, Alhaji Shehu firmly denied the claims.

“We have no hand in political lobbying or appointments. Our mission is purely developmental — to support Governor Umaru Bago’s administration and the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the association’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and reiterated its commitment to supporting the administration’s vision for a prosperous Niger State.

“We believe in Governor Bago’s inclusive leadership and will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen the trust of the Fulani community in his government. Whatever benefits our people and promotes peace and development, we will support it with our time, energy, and resources,” he concluded.

The workshop, organised in collaboration with the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), brought together key stakeholders in agriculture, livestock management, and rural development to discuss ways of enhancing food security, protecting livelihoods, and promoting mutual understanding between farmers and herders across Niger State.
