The Jigawa State Government has donated the sum of ₦2 million to the family of the late Superintendent Corps (SC) Bashir Adamu Jibrin, an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who was killed while on duty at Shuwarin Market in Kiyawa Local Government Area.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, presented the cheque to the deceased officer’s widow, Mrs Zainab Muhammad Ahmed, in his office, describing the gesture as part of the government’s commitment to supporting families of security personnel who die in active service.

Alhaji Bala Ibrahim said the donation was aimed at easing the family’s burden and assisting in the upbringing of the late officer’s children. He urged the widow to make judicious use of the money, particularly in ensuring the education and welfare of the children, while assuring that the state government would continue to recognise and appreciate the sacrifices of its fallen heroes.

In his remarks, the Commandant of the NSCDC Jigawa State Command, Commandant Muhammad Kabir Ingawa, lauded the state government for the gesture and described the late officer as a dedicated and gallant personnel who died in the line of duty. He prayed for the repose of the officer’s soul and comfort for the family.

In her response, the widow, Mrs Zainab Muhammad Ahmed, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Malam Umar Namadi and the Jigawa State Government for their support, promising to utilize the donation wisely. The late officer was reportedly attacked and killed at Shuwarin Market while attempting to arrest a suspect on the Command’s wanted list.
