The Wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has applauded the Federal Government for its commitment to advancing digital literacy through the Digital E-Learning Library initiative, describing it as a major step toward national development and youth empowerment.
Hajiya Lawal made the commendation during the commissioning of a Digital E-Learning Library in Gusau on Thursday. The project, implemented under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), makes Zamfara one of ten states selected to benefit from the programme across the country.
She said the project goes beyond technology and computers, emphasizing that it represents empowerment for young people, bridges the digital divide, and opens new opportunities for innovation and learning in Zamfara and beyond. According to her, access to digital tools and modern learning facilities is essential for progress in today’s knowledge-driven world.
“The Renewed Hope Initiative, championed by our mother of the nation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is founded on the vision of promoting education, innovation, and social development,” she said. “I commend the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and NITDA for executing this project with excellence. I also appreciate my dear husband, Governor Dauda Lawal, for his commitment to improving education in Zamfara State.”
In his remarks, the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, urged students and educators in Zamfara to make the best use of the facility, describing it as a powerful tool for learning and nation-building.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki—represented by the Permanent Secretary, Maryam Shantali—thanked the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for including Zamfara among the beneficiaries. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining and maximizing the use of the facility, noting that it aligns with Governor Dauda Lawal’s ongoing education reform agenda since declaring a state of emergency in the sector.
