The Department of Fashion Design and Clothing Technology at Kaduna Polytechnic is set to host its annual runway event aimed at showcasing the creativity and innovation of its final-year students.
The much-anticipated fashion show, themed “Retro Revival of Contemporary Fashion Twist,” is scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 18, at the Kaduna Polytechnic campus.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Head of Department, Dr. Alabi Usman, in Kaduna.
According to him, this year’s event will feature an exciting blend of vintage aesthetics and modern design techniques, reflecting the students’ ability to merge cultural heritage with contemporary fashion trends.
“The event is more than just a fashion exhibition; it is a platform for innovation and empowerment.
Fashion is storytelling, innovation, and identity — and every home needs a fashion designer,” Usman said.
He added that the runway aims to highlight the evolving landscape of Nigerian fashion, with students presenting collections that emphasize colour harmony, sustainability, and creative craftsmanship.
Dr. Usman further explained that the event would serve as a networking opportunity for fashion professionals, industry stakeholders, and creative enthusiasts to connect and explore potential collaborations.
He noted that attendees would have the opportunity to interact with emerging designers, gain insights into skill development, and learn about entrepreneurship in the fashion industry.
“The show underscores the Polytechnic’s commitment to nurturing creative talent and promoting self-reliance through design education.
It also aligns with broader efforts to position Kaduna as a growing fashion hub within Northern Nigeria’s creative economy,” he added.
