Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has reiterated his administration's unwavering commitment to sustaining green initiatives and promoting eco-friendly development as part of his New Niger Agenda.
Governor Bago made this known during a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the meeting, the governor emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the Niger State Government and the Federal Ministry of Environment in tackling pressing environmental challenges. He stressed the importance of advancing biosafety, promoting climate-resilient practices, and deepening climate action efforts both in the state and nationwide.Governor Bago reaffirmed his administration's resolve to partner with the Federal Government in creating a greener and more sustainable Nigeria, in line with global environmental standards.
In his response, the Honourable Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, commended the governor for his proactive approach to environmental issues and assured him of the Federal Government’s full support in strengthening environmental programs in Niger State.
Both leaders expressed a shared vision for building a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment for future generations. They underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation between federal and state institutions in the implementation of long-term environmental strategies and the promotion of biosafety across the country.
Governor Bago was accompanied on the visit by the Director-General and CEO of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA), Dr. Bello Bawa Bwari.
