The Chairman of the MAAUN Parents Association, Alhaji Mustapha Balarabe, has condemned media reports alleging that the university imposed an exorbitant convocation fee on students.
In a statement jointly signed with the Association’s Secretary, Hajiya Habiba Sarki, he described both the petition and the accompanying reports as acts of mischief and blackmail aimed at tarnishing the image of the university.
“MAAUN remains one of the most affordable private universities in Kano, offering quality education and strong infrastructure. Some private universities in the state charge tuition fees that triple that of MAAUN, yet no one is raising concerns about them. Why target MAAUN?
“If a student pays tuition fee for four years, what is wrong with being asked to pay a convocation fee in a private university? I see nothing unusual about that. This entire issue appears to be a deliberate attempt at mischief and blackmail by a faceless individual claiming to be representing students and parents
What concerns MAAUN with Public Complaints for God sake?,” he said.
He further urged the university’s founder to remain steadfast and committed to providing quality education, commending him for his patriotism and for maintaining stable tuition fees despite the prevailing economic challenges that have forced many other institutions to increase theirs.
