Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called for the replication of the School for Early Child Care Development and Education (ECCDE) model across the state’s 25 Local Government Areas.

The governor made the call during an inspection of the model ECCDE School located at the Niger State Teacher Professional Development Institute, Minna.

While inspecting the classrooms, library, hall, playground, and smart school farm, Governor Bago expressed satisfaction with the facilities, describing the initiative as commendable and impactful.

He said replicating the school across all local governments would provide children with a strong educational foundation while also serving as a training platform for teachers.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to revamping the education sector through the adoption of global best practices to give it the needed boost.

The Director-General, Niger State Schools and Education Reforms, Hajiya Maimuna Muhammad, who conducted the inspection alongside the Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammad, said the school is already making significant impact, particularly in imparting basic knowledge to children from less-privileged backgrounds.

She added that the ECCDE model has become a reference point for other states and serves as a training ground for basic school teachers across Niger State.

The ECCDE School has five classes, four of which have ten pupils each, while one class accommodates twenty pupils aged five.

Meanwhile, Governor Bago also inspected the Bahago Sports Complex, Minna, where he was received by the Chairman of the Niger State Sports Commission, Danjuma Masu.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to revamp the sports sector and leverage it for talent discovery and youth development.
