On Sunday, 28 December 2025, Elsa College of Advanced Studies (ECAS), through the English Language Students Association (ELSA), organized its 4th Annual Cultural Carnival alongside the matriculation (oath-taking) ceremony for newly admitted students.
The event, which took place within the college premises, was held in honour of about 250 new students from the Departments of Mass Communication, Computer Science, and Qur’anic Science Education, who were admitted under a scholarship scheme sponsored by Hon. Mahmud Lawal Ismail (Bola Ige).
The programme commenced at about 9:00 a.m. and recorded a large turnout of guests and participants from different parts of Kaduna State.
This year’s cultural carnival witnessed a notable shift, as participation was limited to ethnic groups from Kaduna State, a move aimed at promoting unity, mutual understanding, and peaceful coexistence among the people. The ethnic groups that took part included Bajju, Baggi, Adara, Atyap, Hausa, and Fulani. Each group showcased its rich cultural heritage through traditional dances, local cuisines, attire, language displays, rituals, and cultural artefacts.
Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including the Honourable Member representing Zaria City, Hon. Mahmud Bola Ige, and the Sarkin Kasuwan Zazzau, both of whom reiterated their continued support for the institution and its programmes.
The event was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere and ended successfully. Following the vote of thanks, certificates of honour were presented to the participating ethnic groups, prayers were offered, and the audience was formally dispersed.
