The Niger State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Nuhu Obed Nana, has held an interactive session with publishers and proprietors of online news platforms in the state as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and enhance information management in governance.

The session brought together key operators in the digital media space to foster synergy between the Ministry and online media practitioners in promoting government programmes, policies, and activities. Hon. Nana urged publishers to work in unity for the overall progress of Niger State and Nigeria, emphasizing that responsible and coordinated information dissemination is critical to good governance and security.

During the engagement, the Commissioner disclosed that the Ministry is finalizing several initiatives to reposition the information sector. These include plans to host a media summit, train and retrain ministry staff, strengthen information offices at the local government level to improve grassroots communication and curb insecurity, and introduce quarterly media parley sessions and regular inter-ministerial press briefings.

Addressing questions from journalists, Hon. Nana explained the rationale behind appointing a Commissioner for Sports Development despite the existence of the Niger State Sports Commission headed by an Executive Chairman. He said the arrangement is designed to enhance coordination, provide policy direction, and ensure effective delivery in the sports sector. He also commended private media outlets for their contributions to public enlightenment and called for mutual understanding to achieve shared objectives.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Comrade Hadi Pandogari, Proprietor of Eagle Eyes News Online, thanked the Commissioner for hosting the interface and highlighted some challenges facing online media practitioners.

Other participants, including Baba Alhaji Othman Othman of The Blinkers Magazine, Mahmud Mohammed of Analyst Today, Suleiman Isah of The Platinum News, and proprietors of Lina TV and Tsalle Daya/Daza TV, Celine Moses Alkali and Nurudeen Isyaku Daza, commended the initiative and called for sustained engagement between the government and the digital media community.
