The member representing Kontagora II Constituency in the Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Isah, has congratulated the Muslim community on the commencement of Ramadan.
The lawmaker sent his congratulatory message on Tuesday night following the announcement by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, declaring Wednesday as the first day of fasting after the sighting of the Ramadan crescent.
Hon. Abdullahi Isah described Ramadan as a month filled with blessings and urged Muslims to intensify good deeds and acts of worship throughout the holy month.
He noted that in view of the country’s prevailing security challenges, there is a need for citizens to turn to God in sincere supplication to bring an end to bloodshed, kidnappings and terrorist attacks.
According to him, if people seek God with sincerity and purity of heart, their prayers will be answered.
The lawmaker also called on leaders and well-to-do individuals to use the period of Ramadan to support the less privileged, stressing that every good deed will be rewarded.
He encouraged Muslims to give alms, offer gifts and extend assistance to the needy, particularly in communities with large numbers of displaced persons.
Hon. Abdullahi Isah further urged citizens to use the holy month to pray for the nation and its leaders, seeking divine guidance and success in making decisions that will move the country forward.
He concluded by praying that Allah accepts the acts of worship observed during the month.
