Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has congratulated women across the world on the occasion of the 2026 International Women’s Day, describing their role as critical to nation-building.

In a message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor—popularly known as the Farmer Governor—acknowledged the immense contributions of women to families, communities, and the overall development of society.

Bago said women are special and unique from creation, noting that their importance in shaping society cannot be overstated.
He commended women for their resilience, perseverance, compassion, innovation, and nurturing nature, saying these qualities have made them invaluable pillars of families and society at large.

The governor also emphasised that his administration remains committed to promoting women’s inclusion in governance and decision-making processes.

According to him, all the 25 local government areas in the state currently have women serving as vice chairpersons, while many others have been appointed into key political positions in the state government.

Bago further highlighted several empowerment initiatives undertaken by his administration to support women and enhance their economic independence, assuring that more programmes are underway to strengthen women’s capacity and confidence in society.

He congratulated women globally on the occasion of International Women’s Day and urged them to remain focused and dedicated to the spiritual, moral, and social upbringing of children for a better society.
