The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly and Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Barr. (Dr.) Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji, has expressed profound sadness over the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Ankwai.
Describing the development as shocking and deeply painful, Rt. Hon. Sarkin Daji said the late Ankwai was a distinguished legislator and a selfless leader whose contributions to legislative governance and democratic development will not be forgotten.
He noted that the demise of the Kebbi Speaker is not only a loss to Kebbi State but also a significant setback to the legislative institution in Nigeria, given the late Ankwai’s dedication, experience, and commitment to public service.
The Speaker extended his heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Kebbi State, the leadership and members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, as well as the immediate family of the deceased. He urged them to take solace in the impactful life and enduring legacy left behind by the late lawmaker.
Rt. Hon. Sarkin Daji prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give all those affected the fortitude to bear the loss.
