As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, politicians from both the ruling and opposition parties are making concerted efforts to either retain power or assume control at various levels across the federation. In this context, a prominent Islamic scholar and President of the African Association of Astrologers, Sheikh Muhajjadina Sani Kano, has urged political actors to demonstrate foresight, exercise restraint, and refrain from inflammatory rhetoric or any actions capable of undermining national peace and economic stability.
Sheikh Muhajjadina made the call during an interview with journalists at his office in Abuja. He noted that such an appeal has become imperative given the increasingly charged nature of the country’s political environment, where various actors are pursuing power through all available means.
“Recently, there has been a wave of defections from one political party to another. This has led some individuals to feel betrayed, while others believe that the four-year tenure of certain officeholders did not meet expectations. Consequently, they are determined to effect change by any means necessary,” he said.
He cautioned that such developments pose significant risks to national stability, particularly at a time when the country is already contending with widespread insecurity, including banditry and terrorism in several states, alongside mounting economic challenges linked to current government policies and programmes. He stressed that this period calls for heightened responsibility and the avoidance of actions or statements that could further inflame tensions.
The cleric also called on politicians and the general public to seek guidance from experts in astrology for insight and advisory on prevailing challenges. He acknowledged the existence of considerable difficulties facing the nation’s leadership but expressed optimism that, with divine support, “the country will overcome its current security and economic challenges.”
In conclusion, he urged Nigerian voters to remain composed and make informed decisions when electing leaders at all levels. “It is inappropriate for voters to be swayed by trivial inducements such as food items or small sums of money in deciding who should govern them for a four-year term. Rather, emphasis should be placed on competence, integrity, and the capacity to deliver meaningful development,” he said.
