The Office of the Honourable Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has distanced itself from reports alleging that appointments were recently made into positions linked to the Minister's office.
In a disclaimer issued on Monday, the office clarified that Mr. Austine Elemue remains the only officially recognised and duly appointed media aide to the Honourable Minister of State, FCT, and the only person authorised to issue media statements and official communications on her behalf, except where expressly directed otherwise.
The statement, signed by Elemue, also clarified that Mr. Bin Usman Rano is not an aide attached to the Office of the Honourable Minister of State.
According to the statement, Rano's activities are connected with the Dr. Mariya Support Group, a political movement established to mobilise support among women and youths for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the second-term bid of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The office stressed that any appointments, designations, announcements or authorisations issued by Rano relate strictly to the affairs of the support group and have no connection whatsoever with the Office of the Honourable Minister of State, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), or the Federal Government.
It therefore urged members of the public, media organisations, government agencies and other stakeholders to disregard any appointment letters, communications or claims suggesting that such appointments originated from the Minister's office.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the office stated that all official communications would continue to be issued only through its designated channels and authorised representatives.
