Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated the Founder of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, on his appointment as Chancellor of the Hausa Community in Europe.
Atiku described the appointment as a well-deserved honour, following its announcement by the Sarkin Hausawan Turai, Alhaji Surajo Jankado, during the 2026 International Hausa Day celebration held in Paris, France.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on September 13, 2026, Atiku said Professor Gwarzo had over the years dedicated himself to promoting the Hausa language, culture and identity, as well as advancing the welfare of Hausa people in Nigeria and across the diaspora.
“This is a well-deserved honour,” Atiku said, noting that recognition of such nature was a product of years of consistent service to the Hausa community.
“Recognition of this kind does not come by accident; it comes to those who serve quietly and consistently,” he added.
The former Vice President expressed confidence that Gwarzo’s new position would further strengthen efforts to promote Hausa heritage and support the interests of the Hausa community in Europe and beyond.
